Emily was a beautiful woman who lived at the Clark Road Mental Facility in Sarasota, FL since she was 7 years old, admitted there by her parents who knew Emily to be disturbed at a young age. Since she was a long time resident, hers was a life well-known. She had long, river-like, marble white hair that was barely tinted blonde and dark, beckoning eyes. This patient was difficult to say no to. If she wanted extra food at the cafeteria, so be it. No drugs that day, she got it. She was character disturbed, one of the documented symptoms as being “charming”, and she was being carefully watched because of her condition. Her conditions were many including Schizophrenia and multiple personality disorder.
The fire that closed down the mental institution was set by one of Emily’s alter-egos. Then, at age 32, she had attempted to escaped the asylum after by hiding out during the evacuation of the building. She died in the fire that day, so near to her escape, and never made it out. It is thought her spirit lives there still but wanders the entire Sarasota area.

I live in Sarasota and two blocks from Clark Road. There is no mental institution in the entire county. Buttttttt, this story was a fun read nonetheless. Good job.

It’s my understanding that the facilty caught fire, and then sat empty until around 2003,when they bulldozed it. One of my investigators is going to check the area out and we would like to investigate the area as it sits now.

I’m kinda glad that institutionalization isn’t a standard practice anymore. I’m both schizo(typal) and MPD and many many more psych labels, so if this did still go on today, I’d probably be commited for life. also, for some odd reason, my MPD is able to be easily manipulated, so I can go by an unlimited number of personas, and nobody knows the real me. hell, even I don’t know the true TRUE me because I’m so many different people. in the words of an infamous biblical demon, “we are legion”. I just use it to mess with people online, keeps them on their toes :3 anyway, I sympathize with the poor girl. she probably just needed some appropriate meds instead of the solemn surrounding of four inescapable walls that make up an asylum. the constant mistreatment and misunderstanding for her conditions by her most-likely zealous sycophantic family is probably what drove her off the edge, not her unhelpable anomalies.
